Veteran Recovery and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
You served others. Now it's time to invest in yourself.
Through OxyPeak Longevity Institute (OPLI), Veterans have access to physician-directed hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) focused on recovery and quality of life.
The Invisible Weight of Service
Service Leaves a Mark
Military service can shape a life in powerful ways. It can build resilience, strengthen
character, and create bonds that last long after active duty ends.
But service can also leave lasting effects that aren’t always visible.
For some Veterans, those effects include post-traumatic stress (PTSD), traumatic brain
injury (TBI), moral injury, cognitive challenges, sleep disruption, or the collection of
neurological and physical burdens often described in the Veteran community as operator syndrome.
In many cases, they involve real and measurable changes in the brain and body that
can continue affecting Veterans and the people who love them for decades after service has ended.
More Than Just Symptoms
Over time, the invisible weight of service can strain marriages, make it difficult to
connect with friends and families, and leave Veterans feeling isolated even when they are surrounded by people who care about them.
For some, the struggle becomes so constant that they begin to question whether things will ever get better.
That’s why OPLI was created: to help Veterans pursue recovery, reconnect with what
matters most, and continue moving forward.
Many veterans come to OxyPeak after seeking solutions for:
Mental Fog & Focus
Racing thoughts, or thoughts that won't come together at all.
Disrupted Sleep & Energy
Rest that doesn't restore you the way it should.
Recovery Lag
Physical or cognitive setbacks that take longer to move past.
Isolation
Carrying it alone, even when surrounded by people who care.
What Research Tells Us
Over the last several decades, researchers have learned a great deal about PTSD,
traumatic brain injuries, and the long-term effects of military service. These challenges are not always purely emotional or physical.
Emotional trauma can affect the structure and function of the brain. Physical injuries to the brain can affect mood, sleep, memory, focus, and emotional well-
being.
As scientists have learned more about those changes, they’ve also begun exploring hyperbaric oxygen therapy as one possible option for supporting recovery among Veterans navigating the lasting effects of service, including PTSD and TBI.
As a reminder, use of HBOT for PTSD or TBI is considered off-label, offered based on a physician’s judgment rather than a formal FDA indication. At OxyPeak, every recommendation by our physician begins with an evaluation to determine if HBOT may be appropriate for your situation.
A PATH BUILT WITH VETERANS IN MIND
Recovery Doesn't Happen in Isolation
Military service is built around teamwork. You weren’t injured alone. You shouldn’t have to recover alone.
Some research also suggests Veterans may stay more engaged in treatment when they have the support of others who understand the language, the sacrifices, and the challenges that can follow military service.
The care matters. The people beside you matter, too.

Veteran Led, Physician Directed
A Mission Shaped by Service
Dion Atchison is the co-founder of OPLI and the driving force behind its mission to serve Veterans.
As a combat Veteran, he understands that many challenges don’t end when
military service does.
He’s seen firsthand how PTSD, traumatic brain injury,
moral injury, and operator syndrome can continue affecting Veterans and their
families long after they return home.
OPLI was built around his simple belief: Veterans deserve access to meaningful options and the opportunity to continue moving forward.
Guided by Medical Expertise
Dr. Mohammed Elamir has spent years supporting patients on their journey
toward recovery and a fuller life through hyperbaric medicine. Throughout his
career, “Dr. Mo” has worked with Veterans navigating PTSD, traumatic brain
injuries, post-concussion syndrome, and other service-related conditions.
Patients appreciate that Dr. Mo takes the time to listen, answer questions, and
help patients make informed decisions about their care.
Together, Dion and Dr. Mo bring something unique to OPLI: a shared commitment to helping Veterans pursue recovery and reclaim quality of life.
“Veterans carry burdens the rest of us will never fully understand. Sleepless nights, static in the mind, the weight of things they don’t necessarily talk about. What I’ve learned treating complex conditions is that healing works best when someone is fighting for you, not just treating you. That’s the standard I hold for every veteran who comes through our doors; real attention, real partnership, and care that lets them know they have people on their side.”
